What has Happ(Y)END

I find myself in a dark room

Nothing to see nowhere to go

No door, no escape

The room just seems to close in more and more

Trying to find a way out

I realize that finding a way out would mean an END to the challenge

Instead I keep looking and looking and although I can’t see anything

I feel something

Something that will help me see

The fire ignites and illuminates the place

I’m in the corner, backed up against the wall, no where to go, can’t breathe

I stop to wonder where do I go from here

The fire is not going out, sign of good things

I hold the match and I push the walls back, no budge

I keep pushing no budge

Feeling restless, thought good things were going to come

What Happened!?

Not trying hard enough I guess

So I push and push and push and with a sense of someone being behind me

Walls begin to move

Room gets bigger and bigger

I’m in her heart

No need to find a way out, I just needed to REALLY find my way in

No END, just Happ(Y)

The Corner Store:

A quintessential and integral part of NYC life!

Whether it is littterally on a corner or smack dab in the middle of the block, the Corner Store has left its indelible mark on life in the Big Apple!

Where else would one go for that hero (a sandwich) for that class trip, or that quick gallon of milk to go with cereal and Saturday morning cartoons. The bags of candy that many children buy every morning and resell in school. Or the Dutch that us partakers of nature’s cure all so desperately need.

But the Corner Store is much more than a “mini mart”, placating your grocery needs. It’s also a banking instituion of the highest caliber as well! Where else can you go and trade Food Stamps for cash? The Corner Store….the RIGHT Corner Store!

The Corner Store is also a meeting place! If you don’t know where any other landmark in your hood is, you know where the Corner Store is! And where the Corner Store is, the local weed man is not too far! People, whom the Hood haven’t seen in FOREVER can all be found at the Corner Store!

It’s also at the Corner Store where many languages can be learned! From Spanish, in all of it’s Latin American dialects. To languages from far away lands like the Middle East. And even variations of English from the (few) West Indian Corner Store owners.

So salute to ALL of the Corner Stores that are scattered thoroughout the Five Boroughs of NYC!! We thank you to all the foreigners (because don’t no Americans ever just own a Corner Store lmao) that came to this Country with a dream. And in fulfilling that dream, gave us an institution that has become the glue to the very social fabric of life in NYC!!!!

Illustrator John Woo’s playful He Wears It series embraces the forces of fashion, putting the Star Wars cast in contemporary brands. The illustration series pairs characters with Woo’s favorite brands, carefully selected to match the look and personality of the different characters. He says the hardest to design for was Jar Jar: “I had to totally change his image and still had to match his face and body.” If you are more of a Star Wars nerd than a fashion nerd, it’s a mini-education to look up each of the brands that Woo picked.
